FEAR THE REAPER
By Ron McVan
Dread the drumbeat thunder, Dread the marching boot, Dread mans wrath, The vengeful beast, Where evil, Has its root.
Dread corrupted power, Dread the sadist jaundiced eye, Dread of empires, And the hangmans noose, When truth, And justice die.
In that darkened empty hour, In deaths cold jaws of slaughter, Dread the face, Of ignorance, Where hatred, Leaves no quarter.
Dread the next Hiroshima, Mans technology gone awry, Dread the poison, In our waters, In our earth, And in our sky.
Dread the furies haunting dirge, And the serpents warning hiss, While the reaper marks time, Behind all of mankind, On lifes tightrope, Across the abyss! |
