Nine Ravens
By TA Odinson Walsh, 1519, CG/CW
Nine ravens sit upon a tree
Unnamed, but not unknown
And from their perch they all can see
The stars through which they’ve flown
Just as they see the ground below
And takes root therein
The tree between, nine ravens know
On each one must depend
One raven heralds time and space
In ways unknown to man
One raven keeps the stars in place
Upon black wings a’span
One raven sets the moon each night
That turns the tide a’sea
One raven with the sun takes flight
To show us all what’s free
One raven watches o’er winds
Upon which we can sail
One raven, doom, it can portend
For those who duty fail
One raven sings a song of joy
If know ye how to hear
One raven silence does employ
And still speaks just as clear
One raven scribes the minds of man
With all that’s come before
So that the eye of life expand
And show us nine more doors
Nine raven sit upon a true
Unfettered but attuned
To how fate is infinity
For those who see the truth
And how the soil that feeds the seed
Can blemish, blight or bless
The tree the flock will ever need
On which its soul to rest
